WEMP Addendum, Wildlife Camera Monitoring Summary Report (BHP Billiton, August 2012)
This 2011 Wildlife Effects Monitoring Program (WEMP) addendum reports on a new motion-trigger camera monitoring initiative deployed around the EKATI Diamond Mine to monitor caribou and other wildlife interactions with Misery Road. The report presents preliminary data from 46 cameras deployed between July and November 2011, which recorded 877 caribou observations and documented that approximately 42% of caribou successfully crossed the road, suggesting Misery Road may not be a major barrier to wildlife movement during snow-free periods.
