Burgundy Diamond Mines proposes two changes to the Ekati Mine Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program (AEMP) Design Plan Version 8.1 under Water Licence W2022L2-0001: to conduct sediment quality and benthic invertebrate sampling in 17 AEMP lakes in 2025 rather than 2026 to align with MDMER Cycle 2 EEM requirements, and to discontinue non-lethal Slimy Sculpin sampling in 2025 because mine-related effects have now been conclusively demonstrated and sufficient data has been collected.
