Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program (AEMP) Response Framework, Comments on Version 3.0, Ekati Diamond Mine (Independent Environmental Monitoring Agency, October 2018)
The Independent Environmental Monitoring Agency submits comments on Dominion Diamond's Aquatic Response Framework v3.0, challenging the proposed fluoride benchmark of 1.5 mg/L and recommending retention of the 0.27 mg/L benchmark based on toxicity data and concerns about protection of lake trout as a valued ecosystem component. The Agency also recommends inclusion of sediment quality criteria for selenium in the ARF due to increasing selenium levels observed in fish tissues and sediments in Leslie Lake.
