Dominion Diamond Ekati Corporation's Aquatic Response Plan for Selenium addresses the exceedance of low action levels for selenium in Cujo Lake detected during 2016 under-ice monitoring, caused by discharge of selenium-elevated water from the King Pond Settling Facility resulting from pumping of Misery Pit and Desperation Pond water in 2015. The plan proposes continued AEMP monitoring and a literature review on selenium toxicology to establish medium and high action levels, with an interim medium action level of 0.0015 mg/L based on US EPA criteria for lentic environments.
