Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program (AEMP) Technical Report, Ekati Diamond Mine (BHP Billiton, December 2001)
This 2001 Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program (AEMP) technical report evaluates results from monitoring in the Koala and King-Cujo watersheds to identify effects of the Ekati Diamond Mine on aquatic environments. The fourth year of post-baseline monitoring in the Koala Watershed and first year in the King-Cujo Watershed detected elevated pH, nitrate, and phytoplankton biomass in some lakes, with elevated nitrate concentrations observed downstream, though current levels are not expected to pose risks to aquatic life.
