Assessment of the Potential for Effects on Wildlife from Exposure to Processed Kimberlite, Long Lake Containment Facility, Ekati Diamond Mine (BHP Billiton, January 2004)
Golder Associates conducted a wildlife and human health risk assessment for BHP Billiton regarding exposure to processed kimberlite at the Long Lake Containment Facility (LLCF) at the Ekati Diamond Mine. The assessment evaluated potential risks to seven wildlife species and humans consuming caribou that may ingest metals from revegetated processed kimberlite, concluding that no unacceptable health risks to wildlife populations or humans would result from the abandonment and reclamation plan.
