Data Report on Water Quality, Phytoplankton and Zooplankton of the Long Lake Containment Facility, Ekati Diamond Mine (BHP Billiton, January 2004)
This report presents water quality, phytoplankton, and zooplankton monitoring data collected from Cells C, D, and E of the Long Lake Containment Facility at the Ekati Diamond Mine during July-September 2003, in support of a risk assessment for discharging Fox Pit mine water. The study found significant horizontal gradients in water quality between cells, with stratification in Cells D and E, and documented the effectiveness of filter dykes and dilution processes in reducing suspended solids and contaminant concentrations.
