Environmental Baseline Assessment, Point Lake, Ekati Diamond Mine (BHP Billiton, December 1998)
Environmental baseline study of Point Lake conducted in August 1998 to document aquatic resources and provide baseline environmental information for potential bulk sampling of a diamondiferous kimberlite deposit beneath the lake. The study assessed bathymetry, water quality, sediment chemistry, and aquatic communities (phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthic invertebrates, and fish), concluding that Point Lake is a very unproductive oligotrophic lake with low densities of lake trout and sculpins.
