Evaluation of the Potential Effects on Fish Habitat of Additional Extraction of Water from Grizzly Lake, EKATI Diamond Mine (BHP Billiton, June 2004)
This study evaluates the potential effects on fish habitat of extracting an additional 50,000 m³/year of water from Grizzly Lake at the EKATI Diamond Mine, using a mass balance model under various climatic scenarios. The analysis concludes that while increased extraction could cause significant degradation of summer fish habitat in Grizzly Stream under extreme dry conditions, practical effects would be negligible due to the stream's already poor habitat quality, and impacts to the Panda Diversion Channel and Grizzly Lake itself would be minimal.
