Kodiak Lake Management Plan, Modeling Component, Ekati Diamond Mine (BHP Billiton, January 1999)
This report presents a water quality modeling study of Kodiak Lake at the Ekati Diamond Mine using the WASP/EUTRO model to assess the lake's assimilative capacity for treated sewage effluent and determine maximum allowable loads of BOD, ammonia, and phosphorous while maintaining adequate dissolved oxygen levels for fish health. The study includes calibration scenarios based on 1997-1998 monitoring data, baseline predevelopment conditions, and predictive modeling to establish loading limits under both open-water and ice-covered seasons.
