Kodiak Lake Sewage Effects Study, Ekati Diamond Mine (BHP Billiton, December 1997)
This report presents the results of the 1997 Kodiak Lake Sewage Effects Study, a three-year monitoring program initiated to examine the effects of treated sewage effluent from the Ekati Mine camp (500–1000 people) on the aquatic environment of Kodiak Lake. The study documents changes in water quality, sediment quality, primary and secondary producers, and fish populations resulting from sewage discharge that began in April 1997, with comparisons to pre-discharge baseline data from 1993–1996.
