Misery Site Surplus Water Atomization Project, Prototype System Design (EBA Engineering, July 2002)
This technical design report describes a prototype surplus water atomization system for the Ekati Diamond Mine's Misery Pit development, designed to treat approximately 400,000 m³ of water annually through atmospheric dispersion and land treatment to reduce ammonia and nitrate concentrations before discharge to Cujo Lake. The system combines air stripping with tundra infiltration and biological treatment by existing microbial communities to complement traditional sedimentation pond methods and mitigate risks of exceeding water licence criteria.
