NWT Survey of Mining Employees (NWT Bureau of Statistics, August 2009)
The 2009 NWT Survey of Mining Employees surveyed 1,705 diamond mine workers across four residency categories to examine factors influencing employee retention and relocation to/from the NWT, including community satisfaction, employment motivations, and barriers to relocation. Key findings show proximity to family strongly influences community preference, employment opportunities and pay drive migration to the NWT, while cost of living and family distance are primary concerns for potential relocations.
