Survey of Fish Populations in Cell E of the Long Lake Containment Facility, Ekati Diamond Mine (BHP Billiton, October 2003)
This report documents a fish population survey of Cell E of the Long Lake Containment Facility at the Ekati Diamond Mine conducted in August 2003, comparing 22 biological variables with pre-development conditions from 1994 and 1997 to assess the facility's impacts on fish communities. The survey found that most fish population characteristics showed no significant change, with higher catch rates of adult fish but evidence of reduced juvenile recruitment possibly due to loss of spawning habitat caused by dyke construction.
