Toxicity of Nitrates to Early Life Stages of Salmonid Fish, Ekati Diamond Mine (Sprague Associates, October 2002)
This report evaluates the toxicity of nitrates to early life stages of salmonid fish, with specific application to wastewater from the Ekati Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories. The analysis examines the Kincheloe et al. (1979) research indicating nitrate toxicity at concentrations around 10 mg/L and recommends this as a tentative water quality criterion, while noting that Moose Lake currently shows rising but still acceptable nitrate levels.
