BHP Billiton's Wastewater and Processed Kimberlite Management Plan Version 2.0 (October 2011) describes the comprehensive management strategy for all wastewater and fine processed kimberlite at the Ekati Diamond Mine, submitted to the Wek'èezhii Land and Water Board for approval under Water Licence W2009L2-0001. The plan proposes significant updates to processed kimberlite deposition strategy, deferring or potentially eliminating the need for Cell D deposition by utilizing upstream areas in Cells A and C and the mined-out Beartooth Pit, while maintaining water quality standards and minimizing environmental effects in the receiving environment.
