Wolverine Abundance Indexing on the Slave Geological Province (GNWT, 2004)
A presentation on a pilot study developing hair snagging and genetic analysis techniques to index wolverine abundance on the central barrens of the Slave Geological Province. The research demonstrates that hair snagging devices and DNA analysis using microsatellite markers can effectively identify individual wolverines and assess population dynamics in relation to environmental pressures including linear developments and habitat disturbance.
