Zach Pond 1997 Fisheries Resource and Habitat Survey (BHP Billiton, April 1998)
This baseline fisheries resource and habitat survey of Zach Pond, a small oligotrophic tundra lake overlying a kimberlite pipe 11 km southeast of the Ekati Diamond Mine, documents fish populations, water quality, and habitat conditions prior to potential bulk sample drilling activities. The survey found an isolated burbot population with minimal available spawning habitat, clear slightly acidic water with low nutrient levels, and a dry outflow stream with no fish habitat.
