Pre-Construction Workshop Report, Matthews Lake and Area Fish Habitat Restoration and Enhancement Project (BHP Billiton, January 2004)
This pre-construction workshop report documents a November 28, 2003 meeting in Yellowknife where representatives from Indigenous communities, government agencies, and consultants discussed baseline assessment results and prioritized options for restoring and enhancing fish habitats in the Matthews Lake area degraded by historical mining activities (Salmita and Tundra Mill mines). The workshop identified that community priorities favor fixing obvious man-made problems (fuel drums, debris) over enhancing natural habitats, with plans to proceed toward implementation in summer 2004 following further community consultation.
